Champions League tickets and match breaks

Champions League tickets for the nights that stay with you

There is a reason people plan their holidays around this competition. A Champions League evening changes a stadium: the anthem before kick-off, an away end that has travelled a thousand kilometres, and a crowd treating a single match like an entire season. Different kick-off time, different atmosphere, and often a fuller ground than at the weekend.

We build the trip around one home fixture — tickets on their own, or together with a hotel, anywhere in Europe. The venues change every season; the demand does not.

How the format works since the reform

The old group stage is gone. Instead, 36 clubs play in a single league table: every team plays eight matches against eight different opponents, four of them at home.

• Positions 1 to 8 go straight through to the round of 16.
• Positions 9 to 24 contest a knockout play-off for the remaining eight places.
• Positions 25 to 36 are eliminated — there is no longer a drop into the Europa League.

For planning a trip this means two things. There are more home fixtures against a wider range of opponents than under the old system — eight different countries in one campaign rather than the same three opponents twice. And if you travel in February, you may be looking at a play-off tie whose pairing is confirmed only weeks beforehand.

Why a European night makes the better trip

League matches fall at the weekend; Champions League matches are midweek. That means two nights rather than one, calmer hotel rates than on a Saturday, and a city you can actually see the day before and the day after. It also means watching an opponent you would never see in that club's domestic league.

Clubs whose home fixtures we cover

Real Madrid are the record winners. Also in constant demand are FC Barcelona, Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United.

Among the historic winners are Inter Milan, AC Milan and Juventus from Italy, and Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund from Germany.

What you should know about availability

Supply differs considerably from club to club. For some we can offer tickets in the normal way; for others everything runs through an individual enquiry, and at certain grounds sales are restricted to members. That is why each event page states what applies to that particular match.

Two points always hold. Dates are confirmed late: league phase kick-off times are set at short notice according to broadcasters, and in the knockout rounds the opponent is unknown until the draw. If you book flights early, choose a changeable fare. And in the knockout rounds home and away allocations are strictly separated — a seat in the home section means neutral clothing.

Tickets and hotels

• Tickets for league phase and knockout fixtures at the clubs we cover
• Hotels in the host city, chosen for their transport links to the ground
• Tickets on their own or as a complete package with accommodation, groups and corporate bookings welcome
