AC Milan Tickets 2026/27 — Serie A at the San Siro

The San Siro is one of the few grounds where you can visit the same address twice and watch two different clubs. AC Milan and Inter share the building — the same tunnels, the same tiers, only the colour of the home end changes. For a visitor that means a Milan weekend can hold two matches without leaving the district.

One correction first, because it is widely reported wrongly: AC Milan are in the Europa League this season, not the Champions League. Fixtures go on our Europa League page once the draw is made.

Why the club is "Milan" and not "Milano"

The name is the oldest clue to the club's origins. It was founded in 1899 as the Milan Foot-Ball and Cricket Club by Englishmen, chief among them Herbert Kilpin. That is why the English spelling Milan survives in the club's name rather than the Italian Milano — the founding story is carried in the title, and in Italy that stands out.

The colours gave the nickname: Rossoneri, the red and blacks. Red for the players' fire, black for the fear they were meant to put into opponents — Kilpin's own explanation.

Seven European titles: only Real Madrid have more

AC Milan have won the European Cup and Champions League seven times, a total bettered only by Real Madrid, alongside nineteen Italian championships.

Arrigo Sacchi's side of the late 1980s is still argued to be the best club team ever assembled: Baresi, Maldini, Gullit, van Basten and Rijkaard, with a back four that used the offside line as a weapon. Those years are why the San Siro fills even in ordinary seasons.

Derby della Madonnina tickets: the fixture named after a statue

The city derby against Inter takes its name from the gilded statue of the Madonna on the spire of Milan Cathedral — the Madonnina, who stands above the whole city and above both clubs equally.

What makes this derby unusual is the shared address. Both sides walk through the same tunnels into the same stadium; being at home decides only which end wears which colour. Milan's home leg is the Derby della Madonnina against Inter — see the Inter Milan page.

The widest choice of tickets currently sits on AC Milan against Torino, with ten positions across several categories. For a short-travel fixture with a good crowd, take AC Milan against Atalanta, the Lombardy meeting.

The San Siro, and what happens to it

Officially the ground is the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, named after the forward who played for both Milan clubs; in speech it stays the San Siro, after the district. The spiral ramps at the corners and the red lattice roof make it one of the most recognisable structures in European football.

Since late September 2025 the site has belonged to the two clubs. A replacement designed by Foster + Partners, with around 71,500 seats, is planned for the early 2030s. Until then football continues in the old San Siro. If you want to see it, you have several seasons — but not unlimited ones.

Milan as a destination

Milan asks little of your sightseeing time and rewards everything else. The Duomo can be walked, roof included; Leonardo's Last Supper at Santa Maria delle Grazie needs a reservation well in advance. The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II sits between the cathedral and La Scala and is worth the detour.

Practically, for a football trip: the centre is compact, the metro covers everything, and the Navigli canal district is where the evening after a match belongs.

Getting there and booking

Milan has three airports; Malpensa and Linate take direct flights from across northern Europe, with Bergamo as the low-cost alternative. From the centre, metro line M5 runs to San Siro Stadio, right at the ground.
