Why nights at the Bernabéu have their own reputation

Getting to Madrid

Madrid-Barajas is one of the largest airports in Europe, with direct flights from every Nordic capital, from Amsterdam, Brussels and Dublin and from most UK airports — usually several a day, which makes a one-night trip realistic. The metro runs from the airport without a change to within reach of the ground, and the station Santiago Bernabéu sits directly at the entrance. The stadium is in the middle of the city on the Paseo de la Castellana, not out on a ring road.

Planning around the kick-off

La Liga kick-off times are confirmed only a few weeks ahead, because fixtures run from Friday to Monday and are scheduled for broadcast. In Madrid that often means a 21:00 kick-off, which rules out a late flight home the same night. Choose flexible return travel — we flag the affected dates when we quote.

The rest of the weekend takes care of itself: the Prado, the Royal Palace, the market halls and the tapas bars around La Latina. A stadium tour including the trophy hall fits well on the day before the match.
