More about corporate eventsWhen the ATP Tour arrives on the French Riviera every April, the Monte Carlo Country Club turns into arguably the most spectacular tennis backdrop in the world for one week: red clay courts terraced into the cliffside above the Mediterranean, overlooking the superyachts moored in Port Hercule. From 3 to 11 April 2027, the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters opens the European clay season – and it's the only one of the nine ATP Masters 1000 tournaments without mandatory player commitment. Anyone who competes here does so out of love for the event, not obligation – a status that has given the tournament its own unique aura since 2009.
With Event Breaks, you can secure tickets and hospitality packages for the Monte Carlo Masters 2027 – combinable with hotel accommodation on the French Riviera for a travel experience that blends world-class tennis with the flair of Monaco.
Tennis has been played in Monte Carlo since 1896, making it one of the oldest tournaments in the sport's history. No player has shaped this stage quite like Rafael Nadal: between 2005 and 2012 he won eight consecutive titles, eleven in total – a record that stands unmatched in men's tennis.
Despite its name, the Monte Carlo Country Club doesn't actually sit within the Principality of Monaco itself, but just across the border in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, France – a detail that surprises even regular visitors. Matches are played on red clay ("terre battue"), a surface that rewards long rallies and tactical play. Unlike the show courts in Paris or Melbourne, Monte Carlo has no retractable roof – rain delays are a real possibility in April. Monaco-Monte-Carlo train station is just a short walk from the grounds, and Nice Airport is around 20 kilometres away.
For many clay-court specialists, Monte Carlo is the season's first real test on the slow red surface – the opening act of a weeks-long European clay swing that continues in Madrid (Mutua Madrid Open) and Rome (Internazionali BNL d'Italia) and traditionally culminates at Roland Garros in Paris. Experience both tournaments in one season and you'll see the full range of clay-court tennis, from the intimate Riviera atmosphere of Monaco to the grand Grand Slam stage in the Bois de Boulogne.
