More about corporate events

Most visitors know Stuttgart as a car city — Mercedes and Porsche were both born here. What they miss is that the football ground, the Mercedes-Benz Museum and Germany's second-largest beer festival all sit within a few hundred metres of each other, in the district of Bad Cannstatt.

VfB Stuttgart tickets 2026/27: seventeen home fixtures at the MHPArena

VfB play in the Bundesliga, with seventeen home matches between September 2026 and mid-May 2027. Book the Ticket Combo — your seat together with something to do on the day, which in Stuttgart usually means the museum next door — or the travel package with a hotel if you want the whole weekend handled at once.

There is a European season too: VfB have qualified for the Champions League. Home dates follow once the draw is made.

Stag antlers on the badge: a club that carries its region, not its city

The VfB badge carries no city symbol. It carries the black stag antlers of Württemberg, the surrounding state. That is unusual — most clubs point at their town, this one points at its region. The supporters' motto follows the same line: "Furchtlos und treu", fearless and loyal, the old Württemberg maxim.

The club dates itself to 1893, though the modern VfB was formed in 1912 by merging Stuttgarter FV with the Kronen-Club Cannstatt; the founding year comes from the latter. Five German championships: 1950, 1952, 1984, 1992 and 2007.

The home end is the Cannstatter Kurve — named after the district the ground stands in, not after a compass point.

Why the MHPArena is loud, and was not before 2011

Anyone who visited before 2011 sat behind an athletics track. The stands were set back from the pitch and the noise drained away into the gap. Converting the ground to football-only brought the tiers down to the grass — which is why it is loud today, and why it feels smaller than its 60,449 capacity suggests.

The name has changed repeatedly: Neckarstadion, then Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadion, then Mercedes-Benz Arena, now MHPArena. All refer to the same building. A completely new main stand was built between 2021 and 2024; Stuttgart staged five matches at Euro 2024, including the quarter-final between Germany and Spain.

The young side of 2007

The last title is the one worth telling. In 2007 VfB took the championship on the final day with one of the youngest squads in Bundesliga history — Mario Gomez and Sami Khedira were at the start of their careers. In Stuttgart "die jungen Wilden", the young wild ones, is still a fixed phrase, and it explains why expectations here run higher than recent tables would justify.

Tickets for Bayern and Dortmund: the biggest home nights

Two dates shape the calendar: VfB Stuttgart against Bayern Munich on 23 January 2027 and against Borussia Dortmund on 19 September 2026. Club pages: Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.

The two regional fixtures are SC Freiburg on 24 April 2027 and TSG Hoffenheim on 6 February 2027 — see SC Freiburg and TSG Hoffenheim. For a first visit, the quieter dates work well: 1. FC Köln on 4 September 2026 or Hamburger SV on 27 February 2027.

Bad Cannstatt: mineral baths and a festival beside the ground

The district around the stadium is the most interesting part of a Stuttgart trip and rarely near the top of a guidebook. Bad Cannstatt is called "Bad" for a reason: Stuttgart sits on the second-largest mineral water reserves in Europe, and its mineral baths are among the more unusual ways to spend a matchday morning.

Immediately beside the stadium lies the Cannstatter Wasen. From late September to mid-October it hosts the Cannstatter Volksfest, Germany's second-largest beer festival after the Oktoberfest. Attend a home match in that window and both are on the same site.

Getting there

Stuttgart's main station sits on the Paris–Munich high-speed line; Frankfurt is a little over an hour away, Munich a little over two. Stuttgart airport (STR) takes direct flights from Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Dublin and London, and connects to the centre by S-Bahn (S2 and S3) in around thirty minutes. Frankfurt works as a larger hub, roughly an hour away by train.

From the main station to the ground is about four kilometres. Take the S1 to Neckarpark, or walk it along the river if the weather holds.

Ticket Combo or travel package

Two ways to book. The Ticket Combo pairs your seat with something on the day — in Stuttgart the obvious choice is the Mercedes-Benz Museum, a walk from the turnstiles, or the Porsche Museum in Zuffenhausen, or a stadium tour through the dressing room and players' tunnel. The travel package adds the hotel and covers the whole weekend.
