Valencia CF Tickets 2026/27 — the Last Season at the Old Mestalla

There is a reason not to postpone this trip. On current plans, 2026/27 is Valencia's last season at the old Mestalla. After that the club moves a few hundred metres into a stadium that has been waiting sixteen years to be finished. If you want to see the Mestalla, you have one season left.

Nineteen home fixtures run from August 2026 to the end of May 2027. For the matches available online we sell official tickets, on their own or with a hotel. Valencia play in La Liga.

The season opens at home with two matches in four days: Valencia against Celta de Vigo and against Real Betis on 25 August 2026, both from 99 euros.

Why the move to the Nou Mestalla took sixteen years

The shell of the Nou Mestalla has stood in the north of the city since 2009. Then the financial crisis hit and the site simply stopped — for sixteen years, visible from the road, a monument to a club that had overreached.

Work restarted in January 2025, and by June that year financing of around 322 million euros was in place. The new ground is designed for 70,044 and is scheduled to open for the 2027/28 season. The old Mestalla, opened in 1923, will close after more than a century.

For your planning that means one thing: this is the last chance to sit in a stadium that has been watching football since the 1920s.

Los Che: a nickname Valencia still argues about

Supporters are known as Los Che. Nobody has settled where it comes from — che is an everyday interjection in Valencia, roughly "hey, you", used so often locally that Valencians are recognised by it elsewhere in Spain. The club did not choose the nickname; the region handed it over.

1999 to 2004: two titles and two Champions League finals

There was a spell when Valencia broke Spain's two-club order. Between 1999 and 2004 they won two league titles and reached two consecutive Champions League finals, in 2000 and 2001, losing both. No Spanish club outside Madrid and Barcelona has matched that run this century.

Those years explain why the Mestalla fills up even when the table does not justify it. The city set its expectations then, and has not lowered them since.

Tickets for the Derbi de la Comunitat — and the city derby

Valencia has two derbies and visitors routinely mix them up. The Derbi de la Comunitat is against Villarreal, the region's other major club: Valencia against Villarreal on 25 October 2026.

The Derbi Valencià is the city derby against neighbours Levante, the older and, day to day, the hotter of the two: Valencia against Levante on 7 March 2027. Know the difference before you arrive and you have a conversation opener in every bar.

Barcelona and Real Madrid at the Mestalla

The two highest-demand dates fall early and mid-season: Valencia against Barcelona on 6 September 2026 and against Real Madrid on 8 November 2026, both from 249 euros. Club pages: FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.

The rest are far cheaper and not noticeably quieter — Athletic Bilbao on 18 October 2026, Real Sociedad on 20 September 2026 or Atlético Madrid on 9 May 2027. For a first visit to the Mestalla one of these is often the better call: same stands, half the price.

Las Fallas, paella and the City of Arts and Sciences

Valencia is Spain's third city and the most relaxed of the three. The Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias was designed by Santiago Calatrava, who was born here — a white composition of concrete and water in the dry bed of the Turia, the river the city turned into a nine-kilometre park after the flood of 1957.

Then the old town with its cathedral and silk exchange, a city beach on the tram line, and the food: paella comes from this region, not from Andalusia and not from Barcelona. Come in March and you get Las Fallas — days of enormous figures in the streets, all of them burned at the end.

Getting there and booking

Valencia airport takes direct flights from across northern Europe and lies about eight kilometres west, with a metro line into the centre. The Mestalla itself is inside the city, in the Algirós district — you walk or take the metro, and twenty minutes after the whistle you are at dinner.
