More about corporate events

112 years separate this club's only German championship from its first Bundesliga match. Holstein Kiel were champions of Germany in 1912 — and only reached the Bundesliga on 11 May 2024, as the first club from Schleswig-Holstein ever to do so. Throughout all of it they played on the same site.

Holstein Kiel tickets 2026/27: how to get a seat

Kiel play in the 2. Bundesliga, at home in the Holstein-Stadion, which has stood in the Wik district since 1911.

Tell us when you can travel and we will look for a home fixture that fits. You will get a concrete proposal back — as a Ticket Combo with something to do locally, or as a travel package with a hotel. If a date will not work, we say so and suggest another matchday.

1912: the title almost nobody knows about

A year after the ground opened, Holstein Kiel won the German championship final against Karlsruher Kickers. It is one of the oldest titles in German football and the only one ever won by a club from Schleswig-Holstein.

After that it went quiet for a very long time. Which is exactly what made the 2024 promotion the event it was in Kiel: a club that had spent more than a century outside the top division arrived there — with a ground smaller than any the Bundesliga had seen in that period.

A stadium where you are genuinely close

The Holstein-Stadion is tight, and that is its whole argument. The stands sit near the pitch, the crowd is modest in number, and from your seat you can hear the shouts from the bench. It is the opposite of what modern stadium design aims at — and for many visitors more interesting for exactly that reason.

The supporters are known as "die Störche", the storks, after the region's emblem bird. You will hear the name at every home match.

The fixtures in highest demand

Two dates stand out: Holstein Kiel against Dynamo Dresden on 24 October 2026 brings one of the country's loudest travelling supports to the fjord, and against 1. FC Kaiserslautern on 28 November 2026 is the season's heritage fixture — see 1. FC Kaiserslautern.

Add Hertha BSC on 17 October 2026, 1. FC Nürnberg on 5 September 2026 and Arminia Bielefeld on 7 November 2026 — see 1. FC Nürnberg and Arminia Bielefeld.

The shortest journey for the visitors, and a good crowd for it: VfL Osnabrück on 19 September 2026.

Kiel: the fjord, the canal and Kieler Woche

Kiel sits on a fjord that reaches into the middle of the city — you can see ships from the centre. At the Holtenau locks on the Kiel Canal, the busiest artificial waterway in the world, you can watch freighters pass through; it holds the attention far longer than it sounds.

In June the city hosts Kieler Woche, the largest sailing event in the world and one of Europe's biggest summer festivals, drawing several million visitors. Travelling in that window means booking a hotel very early.

And the Baltic is twenty minutes away. A late-summer matchday here combines with a day at the beach — something no other second-division destination offers.

Getting there and making an enquiry

Kiel is a little over ninety minutes from Hamburg by train, and Hamburg takes direct flights from across Europe — for readers in Scandinavia this is a short trip. The ground lies about three kilometres north of Kiel's main station in the Wik district, served by bus.

The Ticket Combo pairs your seat with something local — a harbour tour, or the maritime museum. The travel package adds the hotel.

Tell us your travel window and the number of people, and we will find the matchday that fits.
