Dinamo and the Bad Blue Boys

No club has shaped Croatian football as Dinamo have. Their Bad Blue Boys are among the best-known supporters' groups in south-eastern Europe, and the Maksimir, holding roughly 24,000, gets tight on European nights. The ground sits east of the centre beside the park of the same name.

Upper town and lower town

The old centre divides between the Gornji Grad, with the cathedral and St Mark's church under its patterned tiled roof, and the Donji Grad of boulevards and museums. A funicular joins them - one of the shortest in the world.

Getting there

Ninety minutes by air from most of central Europe, with trams from the centre out to the ground.
