Football Trips Europa League: European Nights with Eintracht Frankfurt!

“In the heart of Europe” – according to the title of Frankfurt’s club anthem, from September 26, 2024, there will once again be European Cup excitement and goosebumps atmosphere under the arena roof in Frankfurt.

The first opponent of Frankfurt in the new league phase of the Europa League is the team from Viktoria Pilsen. 

On matchday 3, October 24, 2024, FC RFS from Riga will be a guest in Frankfurt. It will be a premiere against a team from Latvia for Eintracht.

Frankfurt will face two teams from the Czech Republic at home and away – Viktoria Pilsen and Slavia Prague on November 7, 2024.

The Czech runner-up from Prague failed in the Champions League playoffs against OSC Lille. 

Czech teams rarely seen in Frankfurt

Frankfurt and the Czech teams? Specifically, TJ Zbrojovka Brno in the 1979/80 quarterfinals was the only club from our neighboring country, then still called CSSR, to appear in the Main metropolis. The results were 2:3 and 4:1 from the SGE’s point of view, who eventually claimed the UEFA Cup in the German final against Borussia Mönchengladbach, a good omen indeed.

The fourth home opponent on January 23, 2025, will be Ferencvaros Budapest from Hungary. The capital club last challenged Eintracht Frankfurt over 50 years ago: 2-1 and 1-4 in the round of 16 of the “Inter-Cities Fairs Cup”, the predecessor of the UEFA Cup. 

To conclude the new league phase, Eintracht Frankfurt will travel to the eternal city to face AS Roma and Mats Hummels. With a 2-1 victory over Lazio Roma in 2018, Eintracht completed a record group stage in the Europa League with six wins from six games, a milestone in an unforgettable Eintracht season.
