Ajax Amsterdam tickets 2026/27: every home match at the Johan Cruijff ArenA

Sixteen league home fixtures run from September 2026 to May 2027. Take the tickets on their own if your travel is already booked, or let us put the whole weekend together.

Ajax are the record champions of the Netherlands with 36 titles. The 2025/26 season finished with a fifth place and PSV Eindhoven took the championship — which, for a visitor, is not the worst news. A side with something to prove rarely plays a dull match.

Eleven lines in the crest: where the name comes from

The club is named after Ajax, the hero of Greek legend — Dutch sports clubs took happily to classical names. His head appears on the crest. Until 1990 that was a detailed portrait; then the club replaced it with an abstract version drawing the same face in exactly eleven lines. Eleven lines, eleven players.

Hence the nickname De Godenzonen, the sons of the gods. It fits twice over: the classical name, and the matter-of-factness with which one homegrown generation after another has come through here.

De Toekomst: the academy half of Europe came from

A few minutes south-east of the arena lies Sportpark De Toekomst — "the future". Training ground and youth academy in one, and the most productive talent factory in European football. Johan Cruyff came through here, as did Dennis Bergkamp, Clarence Seedorf, Patrick Kluivert, Edwin van der Sar, Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong.

It explains the golden era. Between 1971 and 1973 Ajax won the European Cup three years running, with Cruyff as captain and totaal voetbal as the method — every outfield player covering every position, the team compressing space rather than holding shape. The last major trophy was the 1995 Champions League final in Vienna against AC Milan. Ajax are one of only five clubs to have won all three European competitions.

Tickets for De Klassieker: why it has to be the home fixture

Ajax against Feyenoord Rotterdam is the fiercest rivalry in Dutch football — capital against port city, and considerably sharper in tone than most visitors expect.

One detail decides how you book it: away fans have not been admitted to De Klassieker since the 2009/10 season. The mayors of both cities agreed the ban with the Dutch FA in 2009, originally as a temporary measure; it still stands. So you book the home fixture of the club you want to watch. Europe's first retractable roof — and what it saves you in November

The Johan Cruijff ArenA opened in 1996, holds 55,865 and was last modernised in 2020. Until 2018 it was the Amsterdam ArenA, and plenty of visitors still search for it under that name.

It was the first stadium in Europe with a retractable roof. The steel-and-glass structure covers 33,625 square metres, of which 26,028 move — two sections weighing 520 tonnes each, 40 by 118 metres, closing in twenty minutes. The building rises 77 metres because a car park and a road run underneath it.

In practice: in Dutch November weather that roof is the difference between a dry evening and a soaked one. The home end is the F-Side, named after block F in the old Olympisch Stadion and carried over when the club moved in 1996.

Ajax against PSV and the fixtures that sell out first

Three dates go first every season. The meeting with the champions is on 5 September 2026 against PSV Eindhoven — see the PSV Eindhoven page. Add Ajax against AZ Alkmaar on 31 October 2026 and the Klassieker in February.

Getting to the ground from Schiphol or the city

Schiphol has direct connections from across Scandinavia, the UK and Ireland, and it sits on the national rail network — trains run to Bijlmer ArenA, the station beside the stadium, and to Amsterdam Centraal. From Bijlmer ArenA it is about seven minutes on foot to the turnstiles.

The city itself is compact enough to cover on foot and by bike between matches: the UNESCO-listed canal ring, the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum, the Vondelpark and the Jordaan sit close together.
