More about corporate events

Aberdeen is the northernmost address in Scottish top-flight football and the least visited. Pittodrie stands on the North Sea, a few hundred metres from the beach — with an onshore wind you feel it in the stands. For a Scottish league match away from Glasgow, this is the most honest offer there is.

Aberdeen tickets from 49 euros: what a match at Pittodrie costs

Aberdeen play in the Scottish Premiership, and for home matches at Pittodrie we sell official tickets — Aberdeen is one of only three Scottish clubs, alongside Celtic and Rangers, where that applies.

The pricing is simple: an ordinary league match starts at 49 euros, a marquee fixture runs to 69. Currently available are Aberdeen against Motherwell on 30 December 2026, against St Mirren on 13 March 2027 and against Kilmarnock on 10 April 2027.

Gothenburg 1983: the night Aberdeen beat Real Madrid

On 11 May 1983 Aberdeen won the European Cup Winners' Cup in Gothenburg, beating Real Madrid 2–1 after extra time. The manager was a forty-one-year-old Scot named Alex Ferguson, two years before Manchester United took notice.

Months later Aberdeen beat Hamburg to take the European Super Cup. For a moment, a club from a city of just over two hundred thousand people was the best in Europe. In Scotland that side is still known simply as the Gothenburg Greats — and Pittodrie is the ground they came from.

Pittodrie: where the dugout was invented

Two things about this stadium are football history, and neither is widely known.

First: in the 1920s the trainer Donald Colman had a covered trench dug at the touchline so he could study his players' footwork at eye level. That was the first dugout — it went from Pittodrie to the rest of the world.

Second: in 1978 Pittodrie became Britain's second all-seater stadium, eleven years before Hillsborough made it compulsory for everyone else. The ground holds around twenty thousand today and has stood on the same site since 1899 — land that previously belonged to the police and had to be cleared before football could be played on it.

The New Firm against Dundee United

In the 1980s Aberdeen and Dundee United broke the Glasgow duopoly, and the Scottish press dubbed them the New Firm in contrast to the Old. It remains the fixture the north-east measures itself by: Aberdeen against Dundee United on 5 December 2026.

Add the visits from Edinburgh: Aberdeen against Heart of Midlothian on 9 January 2027 and against St Johnstone on 27 February 2027.

Celtic and Rangers tickets at Pittodrie

Twice a season Glasgow comes to the North Sea, and Pittodrie sells out. Available now are Aberdeen against Rangers on 30 August 2026 and the return on 30 January 2027, both at 69 euros, plus Aberdeen against Celtic.

Visitor pages: Celtic and Rangers. A practical note: these are the only dates where booking early genuinely matters — for the rest of the calendar you will still find a good seat at short notice.

The Granite City on the North Sea

Aberdeen is called the Granite City because half the centre is built from local stone — a material that glitters silver in sunlight and turns grey in rain, giving the city one of the most distinctive townscapes in Britain. Union Street runs straight through it for a mile and a half.

Then there is the harbour that has served the North Sea oil industry since the 1970s, a two-kilometre sand beach right beside the stadium, and the coastal castles of the hinterland from Dunnottar to Crathes. For a long weekend it offers more than most visitors expect.

Getting to Aberdeen

Aberdeen has its own airport with connections to Amsterdam, London and the Scandinavian cities — the oil industry has left the city better connected than its size suggests. Trains from Edinburgh and Glasgow take a little over two and a half hours.

Pittodrie sits in the north-east of the city, about twenty minutes' walk from the centre — along the beach, if the weather allows.
