Easter Road sits in Leith, the old port district north east of the centre, and holds around 20,400. The supporters call it the Leith San Siro, which says something about both the ground and the humour. The stands rise steeply on three sides and the pitch famously used to slope; the modern rebuild kept the character and removed the tilt.
Hibs were founded in 1875 by Irish immigrants in Leith, and in 2016 they won the Scottish Cup for the first time in 114 years — a wait that had become part of Scottish football folklore.

Leith and the city
