Two top-flight grounds two hundred metres apart on the same street: Tannadice Park, and why Dundee is unlike anywhere else in Britain.

More about corporate eventsDundee's two senior grounds stand about two hundred metres apart, on the same street, within sight of each other. Nowhere else in Britain comes close — and for a visitor that means something very practical: you can watch two top-flight matches in one weekend without changing hotel, or even changing side of the road.
Dundee United play in the Scottish Premiership, at Tannadice Park — the ground they have used since the club was founded in 1909.
Tell us which home fixture you want and how flexible your dates are. We will check what is possible and come back with a concrete proposal — the ticket alone, or a travel package with a hotel. If a date cannot be done we will say so and suggest an alternative; in Dundee there are more of those than usual, for obvious reasons.
Tannadice Park and Dundee FC's Dens Park sit so close together that you can see one entrance from the other. Both clubs are in the top division, both on the same street, and when the fixture lists allow it, two Premiership matches take place within walking distance on a single weekend.
For groundhoppers Dundee is therefore a destination in its own right. For everyone else it is the simplest way to see two Scottish league matches in two days without planning a single journey.
When the neighbours meet, nobody travels — you cross the road. The Dundee derby is one of the most geographically compressed in Europe: Dundee United against Dundee FC on 22 August 2026.
Other home fixtures this season include Heart of Midlothian on 31 October 2026, Motherwell on 7 November 2026, St Johnstone on 28 November 2026 and St Mirren on 12 December 2026.
The supporters call themselves "the Arabs" — a name that came from a winter's day when the frozen pitch was covered in sand and a reporter compared the result to a desert. Dundee took the mockery and turned it into a badge.
The great years came in the early 1980s. In 1983 Dundee United were champions of Scotland, ahead of Celtic and Rangers, on a budget that matched neither. Four years later they reached the UEFA Cup final, beating Barcelona both home and away on the way there.
Together with Aberdeen, United formed the New Firm that broke the Glasgow duopoly in those years — see the Aberdeen FC page.
In 2014 Dundee became the first city in Britain to be named a UNESCO City of Design, and since 2018 the V&A Dundee has stood on the bank of the Tay — the only outpost of London's Victoria and Albert Museum outside England, designed by the Japanese architect Kengo Kuma to echo a Scottish sea cliff.
Beside it lies the RRS Discovery, the ship Robert Falcon Scott sailed to Antarctica in 1901. It was built in Dundee and now sits back in the harbour as a museum ship.
The two together fill half a day, and both lie between the station and the water — directly on the route you would walk anyway.
Dundee is on the east coast line between Edinburgh and Aberdeen; trains from Edinburgh take about an hour and a quarter, from Glasgow around ninety minutes. Both cities take direct flights from Ireland, Scandinavia and the Benelux countries.
From the station to Tannadice Park is a twenty- to twenty-five-minute walk uphill, or a short bus ride. Dens Park, as noted, is next door.
