Venezia tickets: the ground you arrive at by water

There is no car park at the Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo, because there are no cars. The ground stands on Sant'Elena, the eastern tip of Venice itself, and supporters arrive on foot along the lagoon or by vaporetto. Opened in 1913, it is one of the oldest stadiums in Italy and easily the most unusual in Europe.

Venezia have made a name far beyond their results with kits that get written about in fashion magazines, but the reason to come is the setting: around 11,000 seats, water on three sides, and the bell tower of Sant'Elena behind the stand.

Plan the matchday around the water

From Piazza San Marco the walk east through Castello takes about half an hour and passes the Arsenale; the vaporetto line to Sant'Elena runs frequently and drops you a few minutes from the turnstiles. Marco Polo airport is served from across Europe, and the water bus from the airport into the city is a trip in itself.
