More about corporate events

There is no second ground like this in the Bundesliga. The Alte Försterei sits at the edge of a wood in Köpenick, holds a little over 22,000, and three of its four sides are terraces. Arriving from a modern arena, it takes about ten minutes to adjust — and after that you will not want to go anywhere else.

Union Berlin tickets 2026/27: how to get a seat

Union play in the Bundesliga, with home matches in Köpenick. Demand comfortably exceeds supply — this is one of the clubs whose tickets are not permanently on open sale online.

So tell us which home fixture you want and how flexible your dates are. We will check what is possible and come back with a concrete proposal — as a Ticket Combo with something to do in Berlin, or as a travel package with a hotel. The earlier you ask, the more room there is.

The stadium the fans built themselves

In 2008 Union had a problem: the Alte Försterei no longer met requirements, and there was no money for a rebuild. The answer came from the terraces. Around 2,300 supporters turned up on site and put in roughly 140,000 hours of work — tearing out the old steps, pouring foundations and rebuilding their own ground.

That is documented construction history, not club folklore, and it explains everything that follows: why the terraces were defended, why the club is called "Eisern Union" — iron Union — and why the noise here sounds different from grounds somebody else paid for.

A year earlier, supporters had already helped in an unusual way. With the club short of money for its licence, fans went to donate blood and passed the expense allowance on to the club. "Bluten für Union" — bleeding for Union — is a fixed phrase in Berlin.

The carol service on 23 December

The most remarkable date in the calendar is not a match at all. On 23 December tens of thousands gather in the stadium, holding candles, and sing Christmas carols. The most recent gathering drew 28,500 people — more than the ground admits for football, because the pitch itself is opened up.

It began in 2003 with 89 fans meeting in the stadium on a winter evening. Today people come from across the country, many with no connection to the club at all. If you are planning a Berlin trip in December, this is the date to build it around.

The Berlin derby

Union against Hertha BSC is a derby that for long stretches did not take place, because the clubs were in different divisions — and whose edge dates from the divided city: Hertha in the West, Union in the East. That gives the fixture a dimension no other German city derby has.

Köpenick: the greenest part of Berlin

Köpenick lies in the south-east and feels as far from central Berlin as a separate town. That is the appeal: forest and water, the Müggelsee as the city's largest lake, and an old town with a palace and a town hall that would suit a small provincial town rather than a capital city.

For a weekend it means a choice: stay in Mitte and take in the city, or stay in Köpenick and see the quieter Berlin. Both work, but they are two different trips.

Getting to the Alte Försterei

From Berlin central station take the S-Bahn to Köpenick, then the tram to the Alte Försterei stop; allow forty to fifty minutes in total. You walk the last stretch through the trees — another thing no other Bundesliga ground offers.

Berlin takes direct flights from across Europe, and BER airport connects to the central station by regional train. From BER, Köpenick is actually closer than the city centre.

Making an enquiry

Tell us the fixture you have in mind, your travel window and the number of people. We will tell you what is achievable and assemble the ticket, the hotel and the travel — and we will say so plainly if a particular date cannot be done.
