The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium opened in 2019 and set a standard nobody in Europe has matched since. A single-tier South Stand holding 17,500 in one block, a retractable pitch with an NFL surface underneath, the longest bar in Britain and a microbrewery inside the ground. For a visiting supporter it is worth arriving early simply to walk around it.

The capacity is 62,850, which makes Spurs the third-largest club ground in England — and the atmosphere from that South Stand on a European night is the reason the design won awards.
