Allegiant Stadium

Allegiant Stadium stands in Paradise, Nevada, immediately west of the Las Vegas Strip — and it looks as though someone set it down there: a sealed black volume without windows, bathed in LED light after dark. The nickname fans gave it, the "Death Star", is not an exaggeration.

A stadium for a city in the desert

It opened on 31 July 2020 after roughly two and a half years of construction and a cost of around 1.9 billion US dollars, to designs by MANICA Architecture. It is home to the NFL's Las Vegas Raiders and to the UNLV Rebels college team, and it staged Super Bowl LVIII in 2024.

Capacity is 65,000, expandable to more than 71,000. For concertgoers, though, something else matters more: the stadium is fully enclosed and climate-controlled. In a city where August afternoons pass 40 degrees, that is not a comfort detail but the reason summer concerts are possible here at all.

Concerts at Allegiant

It established itself as a concert venue quickly, with the largest audience to date exceeding 70,000. The acoustics of an enclosed hall this size are naturally different from an open stadium — louder and more direct, without the evening sky behind the stage, but equally without wind or heat.

Location and getting there

Proximity to the Strip is this stadium's great practical advantage. From the large properties at the south end of the Strip it is a few minutes by shuttle or taxi, and in some cases walkable. There is no metro system of the kind European cities have — in Las Vegas you plan around shuttles, rideshare and hotel buses.

For travellers that means you do not need a hotel "near the stadium" but one on the Strip. Everything works from there. And since Las Vegas is not a city anyone flies to for a single evening, adding a few days pays off here more than almost anywhere else on this tour.
