KV Mechelen tickets: the club that beat Ajax in a European final

In 1988 KV Mechelen won the European Cup Winners' Cup, beating Ajax in the final in Strasbourg, and followed it by beating PSV to the Belgian title. For two seasons a club from a town of 85,000 was among the best in Europe. The trophy is still the proudest thing in Mechelen.

The AFAS Stadion — Achter de Kazerne to everyone local — holds around 16,700 and has kept the feel of an older Belgian ground: stands close to the pitch, a covered terrace and a crowd that fills it.
