Rock am Ring starts on Friday 4 June 2027 and runs for three days. The setting is the Nürburgring in the Eifel hills – the same site that hosts the 24 Hours.

Running since 1985 – and still one of Europe's largest festivals

Rock am Ring has been going since 1985. What was planned as a one-off has become one of the biggest music festivals on the continent, drawing around 80,000 people per edition. For two years, 2015 and 2016, it moved to nearby Mendig; since 2017 it has been back at the Ring.

The setting is what makes it: the site occupies the infield and the ground around the Grand Prix circuit, deep in the Eifel forest. Walking between two stages means crossing a racing track.

Rock im Park – the twin festival

At the same time Rock im Park runs in Nuremberg, and the two festivals share largely the same line-up, with artists shuttling between them. For planning that matters: if the Ring sells out, Nuremberg is a genuine alternative, and the other way round.

Camping is part of it

Rock am Ring is a camping festival. The campsites surround the arena, and for most visitors the weekend begins not with the first band but with pitching a tent on the Thursday. There are hotels in the Eifel, but not many, and they go early – if you would rather not camp, book the room well before the line-up is announced.

A word on the weather: the Eifel is upland country, and the mud years at Rock am Ring are the stuff of legend. Waterproofs and solid boots belong in the bag whatever the forecast says.

The line-up

Names are released in waves from the autumn onwards rather than all at once. The headliners are usually confirmed first, with the rest of the bill filling in through the spring. We update this page as soon as the promoter confirms.

Getting to the Eifel

The Nürburgring lies around 70 kilometres from Cologne, 60 from Bonn and 60 from Koblenz. The nearest sizeable airport is Cologne/Bonn.

Public transport into the Eifel is thin; for the festival the promoter runs shuttle buses from several railway stations. By car you come in on the A1 and A61 – expect substantial queues at the campsite entrances on arrival day, so set off early.

Tickets and travel packages

We cannot yet promise tickets for Rock am Ring 2027 – the on-sale and the allocations sit with the promoter. Tell us anyway. We will look into what is possible for you and come back as soon as anything moves.

An enquiry is particularly worthwhile if you need more than the ticket: accommodation in the Eifel, travel arrangements, or a combination with a race weekend at the Ring. Send us your party size and your dates and we will come back with a proposal.
