On 10 July 2027 oasis play the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys in Barcelona. It is the band's first show in Spain since 2009, and one of only two dates in the country.

A concert above the city

The Olympic Stadium is not in Barcelona so much as above it, on Montjuïc, the hill to the south-west. From the upper tier, looking back, you see the harbour, the rooftops of the old town and, on a clear evening, the sea. In July the sun goes down behind it around half past nine. Only a handful of stadiums in Europe come with that backdrop.

It was built in 1929 for the International Exposition and rebuilt for the 1992 Olympics, with only the historic façade retained. Capacity is around 55,000. Richard Ashcroft is special guest, on all 38 dates of the tour.

One note on where to stay: there are no hotels at the stadium itself, because what sits on the hill is a park. Sants, Poble Sec and the area around Plaça d'Espanya are the sensible choices, all a few minutes from the foot of the climb. Working that out is exactly what the package takes off your hands.

Getting to the stadium

Montjuïc is a genuine hill, not a forecourt. From the metro stop at the foot of the slope it is steps and escalators upward; a funicular and buses also run. If walking is difficult, allow time for the ascent. And for the way back: after a sold-out night everyone wants to go downhill at once, so walking down towards Poble Sec is usually quicker than the queue.

How to get tickets

Unlike previous tours, there is no general on-sale. Tickets go only to fans who registered in advance on the band's official website, and according to the band no additional presales are planned. Miss the deadline and there is no regular route back in.
