Day 4: The Top Seeds Step Onto the Grounds

On 22 April 2027, round two begins – and with it, the highest-seeded players from both tours traditionally make their first appearance, having received a first-round bye by virtue of their seeding.

Why the Top Seeds Play Later

In a 96-player main draw, the highest seeds are given a bye in round one to balance the number of matches they play across the tournament. Day 4 is therefore the day the tournament's biggest names first appear on the show courts.

Higher Demand on the Main Courts

With several top seeds playing their opening matches on the same day, day 4 is one of the more sought-after sessions on the Estadio Manolo Santana and Estadio Arantxa Sánchez Vicario – early booking is worthwhile.

Use the morning to visit the Palacio Real, Spain's official royal palace and home to one of Europe's largest surviving collections of period interiors, before heading to the Caja Mágica.
