On Saturday 7 August 2027 Harry Styles plays the Circo Massimo in Rome. It is the first of two nights in Italy — and the most unusual setting on the entire tour.

A concert in the ancient chariot-racing ground

The Circo Massimo is not a stadium, and yet it always was one. The long valley between the Palatine and Aventine hills held ancient Rome's chariot races. Today the ground is a public park — and when a show is staged there, you look up from the crowd at the ruins of the imperial palaces on the Palatine.

That is exactly why the biggest names playing Rome choose this over the Stadio Olimpico. There is no comparable setting in Europe.

LCD Soundsystem are announced as support — a band that headlines everywhere else. Arrive early and you effectively get two headline acts.

What to allow for

It is standing room throughout, on uneven ground of grass and earth — dusty when dry and the opposite when wet. Sturdy footwear is essential. There is almost no shade, and Rome in early August stays hot into the evening: bring water, drink early, and do not leave the journey back to the last minute.
