The early rounds wrap up
Last updated: 29 July 2026
10 May 2027 wraps up the tournament's first half: the last matches of rounds one and two are played, and the field that started with 96 players per draw is whittled down to a fraction of that number.
With round two complete, the main draw — 96 players per gender since 2023 — has been cut to 24 in each event. Anyone still standing has already survived two rounds on Rome's demanding clay.
From Day 7 onward, matches feature bigger names and a tighter schedule on the show courts. Day 6 is therefore the last day in the familiar rhythm of the tournament's early phase.
An evening stroll across the Ponte Milvio, just a few minutes' walk from the Foro Italico, makes for a peaceful way to close out a long day of tennis by the Tiber.
