ATP and WTA have shared the stage since 2011
Last updated: 29 July 2026
Day two, 6 May 2027, continues round one with men's and women's matches running in parallel across every court at the Foro Italico. Since 2011, the Internazionali BNL d'Italia has been staged as a joint ATP Masters 1000 and WTA 1000 event, and days like this show that double bill at full density.
Few formats pack in as much tennis per ticket: while the men battle it out on one court, the women's matches unfold just metres away. For fans, that means an unusually high concentration of top-level tennis in a single day.
Combining both tours makes Rome, alongside Madrid, one of the rare events where the entire world's best — men and women alike — compete at the same venue at the same time.
The sprawling Villa Borghese gardens, with their views over the city, are just a short ride from the Foro Italico — a peaceful contrast to the buzz of the grounds.
