Day 12: The Grand Final at the Foro Italico

On 16 May 2027, the Internazionali BNL d'Italia closes with the men's final — the culmination of twelve tournament days and the last major stop before the clay season wraps up at the French Open in Paris just weeks later.

Measured against a tournament legend

No player has shaped Rome quite like Rafael Nadal, who won the title nine times — more than any other Masters 1000 event of his career besides Monte Carlo. Every new final at the Foro Italico has since been measured against that mark.

A final before the big rebuild

The 2027 edition is one of the last to see the Stadio Centrale without a roof: from 2026, a partially retractable covering costing around €60 million is being built, due for completion in time for the 2028 season, when it will offer weather-protected seating for up to 12,400 spectators.
