Scottish Premiership 2024/2025, we take a look at the comfortable position of Celtic Glasgow at the top of the table. "The Hoops" are expected to catch up with their city and arch-rivals Rangers FC in 2025 and secure their 55th title, becoming co-record champions. Football trips and tickets to Scotland are naturally driven by the "Old Firm" rivalry, but also by Celtic's performances in the Champions League.

And these matches have been exciting! The 5-1 win against Slovan Bratislava on September 18, 2024, on the first matchday of the new league phase was the highest victory for the Scots in this competition. "If the league were to end now, we would be playing the final against Bayern," joked Celtic's Northern Irish coach Brendan Rodgers afterward, as only the Munich team had scored more goals with a 9-2 win against Dinamo Zagreb in the new Champions League format.

Football trips Celtic Glasgow: A new star from Germany

Memorable was the 3-1 win of the "Bhoys" from Glasgow against RB Leipzig with 2 goals from the German Celtic forward Nicolas Kühn, who had flown under the radar in Germany for a long time.

Kühn also scored 5 goals in 13 matches in the Scottish Premiership. Only club idol Callum McGregor and the Japanese Kyogo Furuhashi were more dangerous in the league with six goals.

Kühn's 3-2 in the League Cup final against Glasgow Rangers on December 15, 2024 (3-3 after extra time / 8-7 in penalties) helped Celtic win the first title of the new season.

14 wins from 16 matches

It is unlikely to be the last title, as the green and white team remains undefeated and almost without losing points, heading confidently towards their 55th championship in Scotland.

Out of 16 Premiership matches, Celtic Glasgow has secured 14 victories, with points dropped only in the 0-0 draw in Dundee on December 22, 2024, and a 2-2 draw against Aberdeen FC at home in "Paradise" on matchday 8.

Celtic leads the Scottish Premiership table with 44 points, 9 points ahead of the still sole record champions, Rangers FC.

No question, Celtic Glasgow is on course for a record championship. To this end, club owner Dermot Desmond aims to make new player signings possible during the winter transfer window. "I flew to Dublin for a meeting with Dermot," reported Brendan Rodgers on December 20, 2024, at BBC Sport, "we talked about January and we are always looking ahead. We are always linked with top players."

According to the portal Transfermarkt.de, candidates for a winter transfer to Celtic Glasgow include Jonjoe Kenny from German second division club Hertha BSC and Denmark idol Christian Eriksen from Manchester United.

In the summer, Celtic signed goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel from RSC Anderlecht, who is of absolute class. He remained without conceding in 12 Premiership matches and only had to retrieve the ball from the net four times.

The Glasgow Rangers' standout striker in 2024/2025 has been loaned Vaclav Cerny from VfL Wolfsburg. The Czech has scored 7 times in 14 SPL appearances.

Internationally, the "Gers" have performed better than in the domestic Premiership. They only lost to Olympique Lyon (1-4) in the league phase of the Europa League, and with two matchdays remaining in the new round – admittedly tough matches against Manchester United and Union St.-Gilloise from Belgium – they still have a chance to qualify directly for the Round of 16.

Will Celtic Glasgow play on Boxing Day, December 26?

Yes! Tickets for the home match against FC Motherwell (4 PM) are available as part of our Black Week specials from 199 euros.

When will the first Old Firm derby Celtic vs. Glasgow Rangers take place in 2025?

Right on January 2, 2025 (4 PM), the two arch-rivals from Glasgow will meet at Ibrox Stadium. Tickets for Old Firm are available here.

Can Celtic Glasgow still progress in the Champions League?

Yes, but probably only through the Round of 16 playoffs. The last opponents in the league phase in January 2025 are the already eliminated Young Boys Bern and Aston Villa, which has been one of the surprise teams as a newcomer and currently sits in 5th place in the table.
