If you’re planning a trip to London to round off the year, you’re in for a real treat. Some have dubbed it “Dartzember,” a time to celebrate the uniquely thrilling World Championship at Alexandra Palace. And just a few miles northwest in Tottenham or Craven Cottage? A snooze fest? Far from it!
Two Premier League matchdays, including a clash between current leaders Liverpool at London’s Olympic Stadium, as well as home games from six other London clubs, provide plenty of options for football fans between Christmas and New Year’s. Inspired by the famous darts motto “Double makes the Money,” we at event-breaks.com show you how to combine a London trip with Premier League action and Ally Pally tickets.

Liverpool, Leeds, Hertha: The favourite clubs of Darts pros
Darts World Championship and football culture — while wearing English club jerseys in Ally Pally is considered a “no-go", there are countless connections between these worlds. Take the reigning champion, for example. Casual fans might know Luke Humphries as “Cool Hand Luke,” a nickname earned for his calm precision under pressure and his rise to becoming one of the world’s best players.
But there’s more to the story. Humphries’ father, a passionate supporter of Leeds United, named him after the club's chant: “Leeds United Kings of Europe,” abbreviated to Luke. Another Ally Pally regular and frequent visitor to Anfield: Stephen Bunting. The ten-time World Championship participant has often cited former Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp as a source of inspiration for his game.
And if you hear the iconic “Ha-Ho-He” chant echoing in Ally Pally, it’s not for a player from Hertha Berlin. Instead, it might be a nod to Ricardo Pietreczko, a Berlin-born darts pro living in Franconia with a big Hertha heart!
London in December: A festive german invasion at Ally Pally
Pietreczko and other German pros have once again spurred a rush for Ally Pally tickets in Germany. Five German darts players have already secured their spots for the 2025 World Championship. Joining the “Ally Pally travel group” is Kai Gotthard, who qualified via the Super League and will make his debut at the PDC Darts World Championship.
With its largest German lineup ever, including seeded stars Martin Schindler and Gabriel Clemens, Ally Pally is set to feel like German territory during the first week of the tournament. And after Christmas? Schindler, in particular, has shown consistent improvement since last year’s championship, making him a strong contender for a deep run post-holiday break.
Darts World Championship 2025: Schindler’s Breakthrough?
With a maiden European Tour title and a nine-dart finish to his name, Schindler has climbed to No. 22 in the Order of Merit, surpassing most of his German peers. Fans are eager to see if he can deliver a breakout performance at Ally Pally, reminiscent of Gabriel Clemens’ semifinal run two years ago. The 2025 draw, with potential early opponents like Callan Rydz or Romeo Grbavac, appears favourable for the 28-year-old.
In Round 3 (December 27–29), he’s likely to face UK Open Champion Dimitri van den Bergh. This could also be the perfect time to combine a Darts World Championship visit with a Premier League match. Thanks to London’s Tube and bus network, Alexandra Palace is well connected to the city’s top football stadiums. Our recommendations:
