More tickets: When will Barcelona return to Camp Nou?

The 3:0-win against the French newcomer Stade Brest on the 5th matchday of the group stage in the Champions League could have been the penultimate match for FC Barcelona at the Olympic Stadium Lluis Companys in the "Champions League". The comeback at the fully renovated Estadio Camp Nou is on the horizon. It is expected to take place in spring 2025.

This was at least reported by the sports broadcaster beIN Sports (based in Doha / Qatar). Originally, the plan was to return to the stadium, then called Spotify Camp Nou, for the club’s 125th anniversary on November 29, 2024. 

"The original plan was to return to the stadium with a capacity of 60% for the club's anniversary," wrote the magazine Sports Illustrated (SI) on October 23, 2024. That didn't happen, and the second proposed date, December 15, also won't be met. 

"We will return to Camp Nou at the beginning of 2025," said "Barca" president Joan Laporta in the latest update. More specifically, according to beIN Sports, it could happen on February 16, 2025, against Rayo Vallecano in La Liga.

It is not possible to play the final Champions League group match against Atalanta Bergamo on January 29, 2025, as UEFA does not allow teams to play in two different stadiums during the group stage. 

Matchdays 21 and 22 in the Spanish top league against FC Valencia on January 26 and against Deportivo Alaves on February 2, 2025, will definitely still take place at the Olympic Stadium in Montjuic.

"The return to Spotify Camp Nou," said beIN Sports, "will undoubtedly be a milestone in FC Barcelona's history, but the club seems determined enough to wait until the conditions for the move are optimal."

The Olympic Stadium Lluis Companys, the venue for the 1992 Summer Olympics, where the Catalans have been playing since 2023/2024, has proven to be an optimal temporary stadium for "Barca" at least in this, their second season there.

The team of German coach Hans-Dieter Flick won all 5 home games in La Liga and all 3 of their appearances in the new Champions League format, with the 4:1 victory over FC Bayern Munich in October 2024 as the highlight. In the Champions League matches against Bayern, Young Boys Bern, and Stade Brest, Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and the team scored 15 goals. 

Spotify Camp Nou: More Tickets FC Barcelona

Barcelona and the completely renovated Camp Nou – a project planned since 2007, gained momentum only after Joan Laporta’s re-election as club president in 2021, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. In October 2021, the members of "Mes que un Club" overwhelmingly voted in favor of the 1.5 billion euro renovation, which is expected to be completed by 2026.

The Spotify Camp Nou will then accommodate 105,000 (up from 99,000) spectators, and the situation around tickets for FC Barcelona will improve significantly. However, a substantial increase in ticket prices is also to be expected. 

New will be the covering of all stands with a retractable roof, which will also feature a 18,000 m² photovoltaic area. The energy generated will be used, among other things, for the new 360-degree screen in the stadium.
