The iconic NFL stadiums in the NFC North—like U.S. Bank Stadium, the "Frozen Tundra" of Lambeau Field in the winter months, Ford Field, and Soldier Field (where the Chicago Bears have major dome renovation plans in the works)- set the stage for unforgettable nfl travel trips. Will this division soon claim the title of the most exciting in the 2024 regular season?
Happy Season Kickoff Day, NFL fans! There’s been plenty of chatter about the top Super Bowl contenders, and we’ll see two of them right away on Thursday night. Kansas City, Arrowhead Stadium, Tomahawk Chop—76,000 fans swinging their arms in sync. It’s a scene that brings energy, and after witnessing it firsthand during the Chiefs’ International Series Game in Germany last season, I will forget all about my jet lag. And yes, I’m saying this as someone who doesn’t root for the Chiefs!
Two or Three Playoff Teams from the NFC North?
One of the most debated questions each NFL season is which division is the strongest—or at least the most competitive. This year, it might be the NFC North. But don’t sleep on the AFC North, where HBO's "Hard Knocks" chose to cover the entire division instead of just one team. No wonder: The Ravens (13-4), Browns (11-6), Steelers (10-7), and Bengals (9-8) all had winning records last season, with three making the playoffs. It’s clear the AFC North is a powerhouse.
Could the NFC North emerge as a rival? The divisions aren’t too far apart. The Green Bay Packers, now in the Jordan Love era, were chosen for the NFL’s debut in Brazil, and many Bears fans believe their team has finally found its 4,000-yard passer—ending an era of frustration in Chicago.
Chicago Bears travel packages: Could Caleb Williams break out early?
All eyes are on rookie quarterback Caleb Williams right from Week 1. Bears jerseys with his #18 are selling like crazy, breaking records even before his first touchdown pass. How quickly the Heisman Trophy winner adapts his unique USC playstyle to the NFL is hard to predict.
With talented receivers like D.J. Moore, Keenan Allen, and Rome Odunze, I wouldn’t be surprised if Williams breaks out around Week 6, during the Bears’ NFL London Game (check all travel packages for Chicago Bears vs Jacksonville). An early breakout would set up a thrilling three-way race in the NFC North, with Dan Campbell’s "Brand New Lions" ready to compete in close division matchups.
Once dismissed as the "Same Old Lions," head coach Dan Campbell has flipped the script, leading Detroit to the NFC Championship Game last year. And guess who’s loving it? None other than Superfan Eminem. If you’re hoping to catch a glimpse of Super Bowl Halftime Show act at Ford Field, you don’t need VIP tickets. Sometimes, Slim Shady was spotted in the middle of the crowd, hoodie on, beer in hand.
Minnesota Vikings travel packages: Vikings charge into London without their helmsman
Meanwhile, 850 miles northwest of Detroit, the Vikings boast an offense with just as much firepower - if not more. Offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, QB Jared Goff, and wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, the $120 million man with German roots, have boosted the Lions into the top five in many offensive categories. The Vikings have weapons too, but there’s a catch: Neither Kirk Cousins, who left for Atlanta, nor his successor, J.J. McCarthy, will be leading them.
McCarthy, the #11 pick in the NFL Draft, tore his meniscus in what many consider the defining shock of the 2024 preseason. It’s hard to imagine how the Vikings will improve on last year’s seven wins in such a tough division. And Sam Darnold? His struggles across three previous teams - New York Jets, Carolina Panthers, and San Francisco 49ers - are well-documented, with 35 losses in 56 games. Maybe the Vikings’ London game (check all travel packages for Minnesota Vikings vs New York Jets) will reveal whether Darnold continues to "see ghosts" on the field or finds redemption alongside top-tier receivers Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison.
