Darts World Championship and football culture — while wearing English club jerseys in Ally Pally is considered a “no-go", there are countless connections between these worlds. With its largest German lineup ever, including seeded stars Martin Schindler and Gabriel Clemens, Ally Pally is set to feel like German territory during the first week of the tournament. And after Christmas? Schindler, in particular, has shown consistent improvement since last year’s championship, making him a strong contender for a deep run post-holiday break.

Darts World Championship 2025: Schindler’s Breakthrough?

With a maiden European Tour title and a nine-dart finish to his name, Schindler has climbed to No. 22 in the Order of Merit, surpassing most of his German peers. Fans are eager to see if he can deliver a breakout performance at Ally Pally, reminiscent of Gabriel Clemens’ semifinal run two years ago. The 2025 draw, with potential early opponents like Callan Rydz or Romeo Grbavac, appears favourable for the 28-year-old.

In Round 3 (December 27–29), he’s likely to face UK Open Champion Dimitri van den Bergh. This could also be the perfect time to combine a Darts World Championship visit with a Premier League match. Thanks to London’s Tube and bus network, Alexandra Palace is well connected to the city’s top football stadiums. Our recommendations:
