Olympiastadion Berlin – Where History Meets World Records
The Olympiastadion Berlin is more than just a sports venue; it is a living monument to German history. Located in the west of the capital, it impresses with its monumental natural stone architecture and its iconic blue track. Since its extensive modernization for the 2006 World Cup, it has combined 1930s historic charm with the comfort of a modern five-star arena.
History, Construction, and Capacity
Originally built for the 1936 Summer Olympics according to plans by Werner March, the stadium initially held around 100,000 spectators. Between 2000 and 2004, it underwent a 242-million-euro renovation, receiving its signature high-tech roof that covers all seats while preserving the view of the historic Bell Tower at the Marathon Gate.
