Las Vegas Street Circuit – The Ultimate Racing Spectacle in Sin City
The Las Vegas Street Circuit (also known as the Las Vegas Strip Circuit) is a premier street track that combines the adrenaline of Formula 1 with the world-famous skyline of Nevada. It has quickly become one of the most iconic stops on the global racing calendar.
Opening and Capacity
The circuit officially opened on November 16, 2023, for the inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix. It is designed to host approximately 100,000 spectators per day. To accommodate the high-end demand, the organizers built a massive, permanent pit and paddock building near Harmon Avenue, serving as the heart of the event.
Key Features and Unique Highlights
-
Racing down the Strip: The most breathtaking feature is the 1.2-mile (approx. 2 km) straight down Las Vegas Boulevard, taking drivers past the fountains of the Bellagio, Caesars Palace, and the Eiffel Tower at Paris Las Vegas.
-
Saturday Night Lights: In a rare move for Formula 1, the race is held on a Saturday night. This ensures the neon lights of the city provide a stunning backdrop for a global TV audience.
-
Extreme Speeds: Reaching top speeds of over 217 mph (350 km/h), it is one of the fastest circuits in the sport, rivaling Monza in terms of pure velocity.
-
The MSG Sphere: The track layout loops around the MSG Sphere, the world’s largest spherical structure, which displays immersive graphics throughout the race weekend, creating a visual experience unlike any other in sports.
