When will FC Barcelona return to the Camp Nou stadium?

The reopening of Spotify Camp Nou is getting closer. The renovation works at the stadium are progressing steadily and making good progress. Therefore, the Catalans hope to return to their fortress by the end of the year, albeit with an initially reduced capacity of 60%.

FC Barcelona's Schedule

Spotify Camp Nou continues to take shape. FC Barcelona wants to play matches in the stadium before the end of 2024. The renovations are ongoing to fulfill the wish of President Joan Laporta to end the year in the modernized stadium of the Blaugrana team. Progress is visible, and decisive months are ahead to ensure everything is ready when the team returns.

In recent days, significant progress has been made on the structure of the third tier. The workers are close to placing the pillars and beams that will surround the entire stadium. Some areas of the grandstand still require further work, but the reinforcement used to concrete the pillars supporting the entire weight of the stand is already being installed.

Spotify Camp Nou Update: At the moment, there are still doubts about whether a La Liga match will be held here at Camp Nou in December 2024.

Start of the Construction of the VIP Terrace

An important part of the renovation is the beginning of the placement of the first brackets that will support the terrace of the first VIP ring. The construction of the stands connecting the second tier with the VIP area of the stadium has also begun. The exterior of the grandstand has made considerable progress in recent weeks as well. All areas for locker rooms, mixed zone, press room, store, and catering have advanced significantly, with some areas reaching almost street level.

Another positive aspect is the opening of vehicle access on the Travessera de les Corts, which has significantly accelerated the progress of the work at the South Gate in recent days. The sidewalk and bus lane have been closed to accommodate a crane, allowing the work to proceed without delays. Currently, the least advanced area of Camp Nou is the parking lot, which will have 3,000 spaces upon completion. However, this is not too worrying, as the parking lot is not expected to be operational until the end of the year.

Barcelona Brings Fans Closer to the Camp Nou Construction

A few days ago, the team launched a renewed webpage documenting the progress of the Espai Barça project. It provides a comprehensive view of all the project details, allowing fans to follow the construction progress at any time. This is a project of the Blaugrana board, which includes the redevelopment of Camp Nou and its surroundings, the construction of an auditorium, new sports facilities, and a new Palau Blaugrana.

Barcelona also recently released virtual images showing what the new stadium will look like once renovations are complete.

When is the first match in the new Camp Nou scheduled?

According to the Catalans' plans, the first home match of the year is scheduled to take place on December 22, 2024, against Atlético Madrid in the new Spotify Camp Nou. Initially, the capacity will be around 60% of the planned total capacity of 104,000 spectators.

When will the renovation works at Camp Nou be completed?

The complete renovation of the Espai Barça project, which includes the Spotify Camp Nou, Nou Palau Blaugrana, Estadi Johan Cruyff, and the Campus Barça, is expected to be finished by 2026.
